If you are recording audio from a microphone that is connected to your computer, you need to configure this manually on both Windows 2000/XP and Vista.
Windows 2000/XP
Before configuring device for microphone recording, please make sure to
- Close all programs that are using an audio or video device.
- Your microphone and speakers are properly connected to your computer and that the volume is on.
1. Click the Microphone from the left panel.
2. From the main window, click the Options.. button to open Micropohone Setup window.

3. From the Micropohone Setup window, sart speaking into your microphone and select the devices one by one from the Devices box.
4. If when the proper device is selected you will see sound waves moving in the Show Wave box, this means that this is the proper device to use to record sound. Once you have found the device, click the Change button to save the settings
Windows Vista
1. Click the Microphone from the left panel.
2. From the main window, click the Options.. button to open Micropohone Setup window.
3. You won’t see the wave to help you choose the device if you are using Windows Vista. However, the recording device for microphone recording will most likely start with “Mic” or “Microphone”. Click OK to finish.
